The Story

An agent mission as narrative for the topic of data security

In our case study, participants take on the role of an intruder to experience cyber security from a completely new perspective.

MISSION: VERTICAL is more than a game: It is an interactive narrative that translates the relevance of complex IT topics into an exciting story.

The Mission

Break into the server room, extract data and escape spectacularly.

Gameplay & Immersion

Users move physically through the space, use ladders and interact directly with objects. Instead of complicated key combinations, we rely on natural movement. Walking and ducking work like in real life. This enables a barrier-free entry without lengthy explanations.

Storytelling with Learning Effect

The environment itself conveys the message. Open shafts and provided ladders serve as a metaphor for real security gaps. By intentionally making it easy for the intruder, we show how important it is to close vulnerabilities in reality preventively.

From Game to Job Interview

The mission ends with a clear call-to-action: "You found the gaps – help us now make the systems of the future secure!" This moment is the perfect pass for the stand staff to seamlessly take over the recruiting conversation.

The Interaction Concept

VR Free Roam on 9 m²

Maximum freedom of movement in the smallest space. One of the biggest hurdles for VR at trade shows and events is the space requirement. MISSION: VERTICAL solves this problem through an intelligent compromise between physical movement and digital space illusion.

The 3x3 Meter Solution

On a compact floor area of only 9 m², the experience is fully walkable.

Real Walking (Free Roam)

Since body and eye perceive the identical movement, the risk of motion sickness is reduced. The experience becomes more credible and intense as a result.

The Space Illusion

Through clever level design, we guide the user so that they never leave the physical boundaries of the area, but maintain the feeling of a wide, vertical world.

Vertical Thrill

Since the space on the ground is limited, we use the height. Climbing and looking into the depth create heart palpitations without having to cover long distances.

True Mobility

Plug & Play for autonomous use. We rely on modern mobile VR hardware with integrated processing unit (Standalone).
